53 kW

53 kW? Any Herbie fan knows the number, but not the power rating. This beautiful little 1967 Beetle came to reGEN Autowerks with a seized engine, trashed interior, and some faded 53 decals. During the restoration and EV conversion process, a funny thing happened. As Steve Nestel tells it, "The electric motor specification sheet was sitting on my desk one day. I glanced down and noticed that peak power for this motor was 53 kiloWatts. That sealed the deal for restoring its old Herbie glory."
